A flyweight bout has been added to the UFC 187 card on Memorial Day weekend in Las Vegas as former title challenger John Dodson will return from injury to meet Zach Makovsky.
The fight booking was announced during the UFC Fight Night 61 Pre-Fight Show on Fox Sports 1 today.
UFC 187 will come from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 23 and will be headlined by Jon Jones defending the UFC light heavyweight title against Anthony Johnson.
Dodson (16-6) has won back to back fights since losing to UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson at the beginning of 2013. His last fight took place in June of last year as he defeated John Moraga and he has been out of action since that fight due to a knee injury that he suffered in training.
Makovsky (19-5) is coming off a win against Tim Elliott last weekend at UFC Fight Night 60 as he won by unanimous decision. Since entering the UFC in late 2013, he has won three of four fights and his only defeat came against Jussier Formiga in August of last year.
