Kimbo Slice signed last month with Bellator and his first fight with the promotion has been announced as he will meet Ken Shamrock in a heavyweight bout slated for June 20 at Scottrade Center in St. Louis.
Bellator officials announced the fight booking on Friday afternoon.
While the fight booking was announced by the promotion, the fight is not official with the commission. According to Missouri Office of Athletics Director Tim Lueckenhoff, the fight has not been presented to the commission by Bellator.
“Has not even been proposed by promoter, no date secured,” Lueckenhoff told The MMA Report on Thursday.
According to the release by Bellator, the fight will headline the fight card and more information on the event will be announced in the near future. Slice and Shamrock were initially scheduled to meet in 2008, but a cut on the day of the fight forced Shamrock out of the event and Slice ended up being defeated by Seth Petruzelli.
“I remember how excited I was when this fight was originally announced, and how disappointed I was when it didn’t come to fruition at that time,” said Bellator President Scott Coker. “I’m very happy we were able to put this one together because I know these guys still have a lot of unfinished business to take care of, and when they do, it will be something special.”
