Paul Daley defeated Andre Santos Friday night at Bellator 134. He dropped Santos several times throughout but was unable to finish.
His original opponent was supposed to be welterweight champion Douglas Lima but Lima had to withdraw due to injury. Since then, Lima and Daley have sparred verbally leading up to the bout.
After Daley’s win on Friday night, Lima tweeted out “Paul Daley I’m not in the least bit impressed by your performance.”
When asked about the jab, Daley replied “I wasn’t really too impressed with my performance. But I won.” Daley also intimated at the post fight press conference that despite the win and the back and forth with Lima, he may want another fight to get ready for a title shot.
“I don’t really want to pick opponents but there are some interesting fights for me. Some stand up guys, Marius Zaromskis, Fernando Gonzalez would make for good, entertaining fights. But I wouldn’t mind facing a wrestler either. I want to test myself.”
The welterweight stand out also has had a long successful career in kickboxing. With the emerging Spike sports landscape, one has to wonder if Daley would be interested in dabbling in Glory as well.
“I’m signed to K-1 as far as kickboxing is concerned. But if Glory would like to get a hold of that contract, I would be more than happy to fight for Glory as well.”
