Ultimate Fighter 1 alum and former welterweight title challenger Josh Koscheck lost his fourth fight in a row last night at UFC Fight Night 62 as he was submitted by Erick Silva in the co-main event of the fight card.
Last night was the final fight on the UFC contract of Koscheck and the obvious question that was asked after the event was what is the future of Koscheck in the UFC and MMA.
UFC President Dana White has always stated that he has a soft spot for all of the guys that participated on the inaugural season of The Ultimate Fighter. It’s the show that help propel the UFC to what the promotion is today and during the post fight press conference, White stated that he will give Koscheck a couple of days to think about his future.
After White stated he would give Koscheck some time to think about what is next for the Dethrone Base Camp fighter, Koscheck stated that he will take some time to re-evaluate his life and career.
“I am not happy with where I am at,” Koscheck said during the post fight press conference. “I am 37 and finishing the last couple fights on my contract have not been the greatest. I took this fight on short notice and I knew I could come in here and make this a fun fight. It did not go my way tonight. I showed up and I fight every time. I try to fight hard and today was Erick’s day. He fought good and he fought smart. He was the better guy tonight.”
“Being 37, I told Dana that I would like to fight someone my own age for once. Maybe they can make a senior citizen division here in the UFC. I have had a good, long career since The Ultimate Fighter 1 and it’s been fun. It’s been a fun ride. I am going to go home, sleep for a couple of days, re-evaluate life, my career, and see what’s up. Me and Dana, I’m sure we will talk.”
