UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones turned himself into authorities on Monday following an arrest warrant being issued following a hit-and-run on early Sunday morning.
Jones is facing a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injuries and was booked today at 7:11 p.m. local time.
After posting a bail of $2,500, Jones was released from Bernalillo County Metro Detention Center at 10:13 p.m. local time.
Jones is being accused of running a red light and hitting another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle is a pregnant woman and she suffered a fractured arm and wrist in the accident. According to the arrest warrant, the woman will have a cast put on her arm tomorrow and will be getting an ultra sound today.
As of right now, Jones is scheduled to defend the UFC light heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 187 next month against Anthony Johnson. At this time, the UFC has not stated whether Jones will remain on the May 23rd fight card coming from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
