A welterweight bout has been added to UFC 189 on July 11 in Las Vegas as Brandon Thatch will meet John Howard.
The fight booking was announced on Wednesday night’s edition of UFC Tonight on Fox Sports 1.
UFC 189 will come from the MGM Grand Garden Arena and will be headlined by a title fight as Jose Aldo defends the featherweight title against Conor McGregor.
Thatch (11-2) will enter this fight following a defeat as he was submitted by Benson Henderson in the main event of UFC Fight Night 60 in February. Prior to the defeat, he started 2-0 in the UFC and both wins came by stoppage in the first round. Howard (22-11) came back to the UFC in 2013 and scored wins over Uriah Hall and Siyar Bahadurzada. Since those wins, he has dropped three in a row and his most recent defeat came in January against Lorenz Larkin.

Jose Aldo (25-1) vs. Conor McGregor (17-2)
Robbie Lawler (27-8) vs. Rory MacDonald (18-2)
