UFC 186 will take place tonight from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and the fight card will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT with three preliminary bout on Fight Pass before the televised preliminary card begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Fox Sports 1.
The main card on pay-per-view will begin at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT and will he headlined by a title fight as Demetrious Johnson defends the UFC flyweight title against Kyoji Horiguchi.
Take a look at my Draft Kings preview and recommended lineup for today’s event.
(For those that are unfamiliar with the Draft Kings format of daily MMA betting: with a cap of $50,000, the objective is to select 5 fighters – who have been allotted prices – to produce as many points as possible. The rules on how points are scored by a particular fighter can be found on the bottom of this article.)
Demetrious Johnson, $11,400 vs Kyoji Horiguchi
This a real tough card for Draft Kings with few no-brainers. Regardless, one of those no-brainers is the main event. Sure, Kyoji Horiguchi presents some problems to just about every 125 pounder with his speed and power, but Johnson is just at another level than anyone else in the flyweight division. Johnson should win in convincing fashion, especially given that we still are probably a couple of years away from Horiguchi at his absolute best.
Thomas Almeida $11,200 and Shane Campbell $8,900
The thought process with these two picks is taking promising prospects against established UFC veterans. Almeida and Campbell are taking on Yves Jabouin and John Makdessi, respectively. Almeida looked spectacular in his UFC debut, and he should be able to continue to grow his momentum over a 35-year-old Jabouin who has dropped a step in recent years. With Campbell, I like the size that he brings to the table and recent developments in his game that he’s shown in the MFC enough to take him as a dog against Makdessi.
Alexis Davis, $9,000 vs Sarah Kaufman
Don’t expect any finish points out of this pick, but do expect a large amount of strikes accumulated throughout the bout. I expect this fight to be really contested and go the distance, which is why I’m taking Davis. She has nice value at $9,000.
CB Dollaway, $9,200 vs Michael Bisping
With the remaining salary, I’m taking a flier on Dollaway. Up to now, Bisping has shown himself to be the superior fighter, but this pick is banking on Bisping potentially reaching a tipping point at age 36 against a peaking Dollaway. Dollaway will have trouble successfully landing takedowns, but there should be an opportunity for him to score points with offensive clinching, takedown attempts and wild, powerful combinations.
