The tryouts for The Ultimate Fighter took place last month in Las Vegas and Vince Eazelle was one of the fighters who came to Las Vegas in hopes of getting on the UFC reality show.
Along with going out for the tryouts, a lot of fighters use it as a way to get their face in front of UFC match makers Joe Silva and Sean Shelby.
The tryouts for The Ultimate Fighter is essentially a job interview with the UFC. You may not succeed in getting on the reality show, but you get the opportunity to sell yourself to people like Silva and Shelby.
While Eazelle was unable to get on the show, he was able to showcase his abilities and he believes that he is now high on the UFC radar following the tryouts for The Ultimate Fighter 22.
“I enjoyed going out there and see how everything was working,” Eazelle told The MMA Report. “Of course, it’s a reality TV show base and they are looking for dramatics and things like that. I went out there and I performed. I made it past the grappling. I made it pass the mit work. I made it past the interviews. They decided to make last minute cuts. Business is business as usual so no hard feelings. I am high on there radar. I talked to them and I am high on there radar. I plan that we will be working with them in the near future.”
If Eazelle did not go to the tryouts for the reality show, would he not be high on the UFC radar? For the Illinois base fighter, he believes that going to the tryouts plays a huge part in why he is now on the UFC’s radar.
“I think it does play a part in it. I think it plays a huge part,” he said. I think it gave them more recognition for my skill set because they got to see it first hand. I think it plays a part absolutely.”
Eazelle was expected to be returning to the cage this weekend at Capital City Cage Wars, but the promotion was unable to secure him an opponent. His next fight has not been determined at this time and it would not be surprising to see Eazelle get the call from the UFC if they need an opponent to step up on short notice.
