ONE Championship will be heading to the Thuwunna National Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on July 18 for ONE Championship 29: Kingdom of Warriors and the event will be headlined by Bibiano Fernandes defending the bantamweight title against Toni Tauru.
The event and fight booking was announced by ONE Championship on late Thursday evening.
Fernandes (17-3) made his ONE Championship debut in 2012 and is currently on a nine fight winning streak. He is coming off a rear-naked choke submission win against Dae Hwan Kim in December at ONE Championship 23.
Tauru (10-1-1) has won ten straight fights after starting 0-1-1 in his MMA career. His last two fights came in the Cage Warriors promotion and both of those victories came by rear-naked choke submission.
“ONE Championship is the first major world class event in Myanmar with the invitation and support from the Ministry of Sports and we are delighted to finally get the chance to bring our unique brand of adrenaline-pumping mixed martial arts action, live to fight fans in Myanmar,” said ONE Championship CEO Victor Cui.“It is part of our growth plan to bring opportunities to countries with a rich history in martial arts and combat sports such as Myanmar.
