Ali Abdel-Aziz explains why fans should watch World Series of Fighting 22 over UFC 190

The World Series of Fighting will return next Saturday night as the promotion will be holding a fight card from the Axis Theatre inside Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas with two title fights.WSOF 22 New WEB

The event will be headlined by an intriguing welterweight title fight as champion Rouismar Palhares will make his second title defense as he is challenged by Jake Shields. In the other title fight, Marlon Moraes will defend the bantamweight title against Sheymon Moraes.

Nearly every MMA fan realizes that the World Series of Fighting 22 fight card will go up against the UFC 190 pay-per-view. The main card of UFC 190 on pay-per-view will begin at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT and the World Series of Fighting 22 main card on NBCSN will begin at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT. With both fight cards being on at the same time, which fight card should fans watch live if they can only watch one?

“You have the Ronda Rousey show and you have the World Series of Fighting show,” WSOF Executive Vice President Ali Abdel-Aziz told The MMA Report during the WSOF 22 media conference call. “We all know what is going to happen with Ronda Rousey. She is going to go in there and she is going to handle business. She is pound-for-pound, one of the best in the world. Everyone can go on any MMA website. Watch the highlight and then how long is going to be the fight.”

“Our fight card, we have really great matchups,” Abdel-Aziz continued. “We do not know who is going to win and who is going to lose. Thiago Silva vs. Mike Kyle — no one can predict. Jake Shields vs. Rousimar Palhares — everyone is talking about it and it’s no disrespect to Ronda. Ronda is the best. Me as a MMA fan, I can just watch the highlights and I would tune into World Series of Fighting. I think the UFC will be over and we will still be on. I do not think we will go head up. People are going to be watching our main event after the UFC card. At the end of the day, the UFC has so many shows a year. That is why we put on a great fight card to make sure fans tune in to watch.”
