Former Titan FC featherweight champion stated before Titan FC 34 that he was going to make a statement and that is what he did as he defeated Vincent Eazelle by knockout in 32 seconds.
The victory over Eazelle secured Green an opportunity to reclaim the Titan FC featherweight title as Titan FC officials announced after the event that they are targeting to have newly crowned champion Andre Harrison make his first title defense against Green.
Titan FC CEO Jeff Aronson has already stated that the next Titan FC event will be taking place on September 19 at a venue to be determined. Green wants to be on this card against Harrison and he wants to see this fight take place somewhere near his home state of New York.
“I am hoping they do somewhere around the Tri-State area,” Green told The MMA Report. “Maybe New Jersey or somewhere on the east coast so I can get some people in there. I definitely feed off the energy of my family and friends. I am hoping they do it. The best place I am thinking is New Jersey. I am going to get in Jeff Aronson’s ear and say, ‘let’s come to New Jersey.’ I fought in New Jersey one time for CFFC and I was able to get a lot of people out there. We will see and hopefully we get close to there.”
Green and Harrison are two of the best featherweight fighters that are not currently in the UFC. Some people may look at both fighters at having a similar style. However, Green knows that his wrestling is much better than Harrison and while he likes Harrison, he plans to beat him by knockout.
“I really like Andre. We have seen each other on the past couple of cards and kind of developed a little bit of a relationship,” Green said. “I feel bad that I have to fight him because I am going to go out there and knock him out. He is a good fighter, but he is predominately a wrestler. There is no way around it, he is not a better wrestler than me no matter how you look at it. If he thinks he is, I will definitely prove it come fight night. I think it’s well known that I am a better wrestler. I have better credentials. I have fought harder competition and my striking is getting better by the day. I think I am going to be bringing way to much to the table for him.
“I watched that fight with Kurt and he was getting caught with some shots standing up. Kurt was catching him,” Green continued. “Kurt did not have enough pepper on them to lay him down. He was getting caught with some clean shots striking wise. If he let’s me hit him like Kurt hit him, he is going to fall. Like I said with the wrestling, I know he is a really good wrestler and I already know he is going to shoot on me. The first time he shoots in and feels my wrestling, I think he is going to realize that he is not going to be able to take me down three or four times a round like he did with Kurt. I just think it’s not a good matchup for him. But more power to him and the best of luck. I definitely know that I am going to finish this fight again early.”
