The main event of CES MMA 30 is now official as Julian Lane will defend the lightweight title against Luis Felix in a rematch of their 2014 bout that Lane won by technical submission.
The fight booking was announced by CES MMA officials today.
CES MMA 30: Lane vs. Felix II will come from the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island and along with announcing the main event, the promotion also announced that Andres Jeudi will meet Leon Davis on the August 14 event.
Lane (9-3-1) became the CES MMA lightweight champion when he defeated Felix at CES MMA 25 last year. Since that victory, he successfully defended the title against Lucas Cruz at CES MMA 27 in January.
“I’m going to beat his ass so bad that he’s not going to want to fight me ever again in his life, man,” Lane says. I’ve already beat him once, so I’m going into this fight with a lot of confidence,” he continues. “I know what to expect. I know what he brings to the table. I’ve been punched by him. I’ve been kicked by him. His punches didn’t phase me. His kicks look kind of fancy, but they don’t phase me. All I’ve got to do is tap him on the chin and it’s over, man. I’m going to go in there and I’m going to knock him out.”
Felix (13-8) has won back to back fights since losing to Lane and both of those victories came in CES MMA. His most recent win came in March at CES MMA 28 as he defeated Reggie Merriweather by TKO in the first round.
“My goal this fight is to go out there and prove that me and Julian are on two completely different levels,” Felix, a nine-time CES MMA veteran says. “I’m out there to prove that I’m the best lightweight out here in the Northeast.”
