The Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) has a new president for the first time in eight years as Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulations Director Mike Mazzulli was elected as the new President yesterday in San Diego.
Mazzulli was one of two people than ran for the president of the ABC with the other person being Ohio Athletic Commission Director Bernie Profato.
Along with Mazzulli being elected as the new president, four other officials were appointed to positions with the ABC. The 1st Vice President will be Brian Dunn (Nebraska), 2nd Vice President is Mike Kostrzewa (Connecticut), Treasurer is Lydia Robertson (Arkansas), and the Secretary will be Joe Walsh (Iowa).
Following the election of Mazzulli as the new president of the ABC, he talked to The MMA Report. He stated that he is 100 percent behind bringing the association together and doing what is right for all combative fighters. He wants to have the ABC run like a state run commission and will be there to assist state athletic commissions.
He maintained that all decisions made by the ABC will be decided by the entire Board of Directors of the ABC. Stating “this is not the Mike Mazzulli show, this is the ABC Show” and the number one goal of the ABC is fighter safety.
