When Bellator returns to your television sets next week, the promotion will have a new voice as Sean Grande is replacing Sean Wheelock as the play by play announcer of the number two mixed martial arts promotion.
The change was initially reported by Awful Announcing earlier today and has since been confirmed by Bellator and Spike.
Following the news of Grande replacing Wheelock, Bellator color analyst Jimmy Smith gave his thoughts on his now former broadcast partner.
“Hard day for me,” Smith wrote on Twitter. “Will always treasure my 7 1/2 years working with Sean Wheelock. I can honestly say there are few people who love MMA more. I wish him all the best in everything he does and know that he will bring his loyalty and preparation into every job he has.”
Grande has an extensive sports background in calling play by play and has been the radio voice of the Boston Celtics since 2001.
