A knee injury has forced Tyrone Spong to pull out of his WSOF 22 bout against Mike Kyle and taking Spong’s place in the bout will be Thiago Silva.
WSOF Executive Vice President Ali Abdel-Aziz confirmed the change to MMA Fighting on Tuesday.
WSOF 22 will come from the Axis Theatre inside Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas on August 1 and will be headlined by a title fight as Rousimar Palhares defends the welterweight title against Jake Shields.
Silva (16-4, 2NC) made his WSOF debut back in March and lost to Teddy Holder in the light heavyweight tournament. The defeat snapped a two fight winning streak and it was his first defeat since 2012. Kyle (21-12-1, 2NC) has gone 0-2 in the WSOF and the defeats came against Andrei Arlovski and Anthony Johnson. He is returning this fight following a submission win in March against Baga Agaev.
