One night, eight-man lightweight tournament set for WSOF 25 in November

The one-night tournament is becoming a trending topic in mixed martial arts and the World Series of Fighting has announced they will be holding a one night, eight-main lightweight tournament on November 20 at WSOF 25.wsof-flat-color-outline

WSOF Executive Vice President Ali Abdel-Aziz announced the tournament on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour on MMA Fighting.

Six of the eight fighters in the field were announced by Abdel-Aziz on Monday with those fighters being Islam Mamedov, Mike Ricci, Joao Zeferino, Rich Patishnock, Jorge Patino, and Brian Cobb. The other two spots will be given to the winner of the WSOF 23 bout between LaRue Burley and Brian Foster, along with another unnamed fighter.

WSOF 25 will come from Seattle, Washington and Abdel-Aziz also confirmed today that recently signed lightweight Jason High will meet Caros Fodor on the November 20 card.

  1. I try to not to hate Ali and then he does interviews like he did on The MMA Hour. Ali says they create their own stars and they’re trying to be different. WSOF’s roster is full former UFC and Bellator fighters. They copy off of Bellator a lot. For example post prelims, the one night tourney, etc. Then he says WSOF is kicking ass and their doing so great. Their ratings and attendances are terrible. They haven’t made a single penny. But yet Ali is so super cocky and arrogant. WSOF even bragged about their shitty ratings they got last event. Ali is so full of shit and WSOF is such a joke.. I was starting to pull for them and then Ali opens his big mouth again.

    UFC has 100’s and 100’s fighters from like 20 different organizations. But only difference is all those fighters from all these other organizations are really good and top guys. UFC never signs cans that can’t fight.

    Bellator signs guys from UFC that everybody’s heard of and to get ratings. And they have a lot of their own guys. They also release a ton of their own fighters. They have some cans too that I just don’t get why they still keep.

        What did you think of Ali’s comments about Melvin Guillard on The MMA Hour? I know Ali would never say the things he said yesterday about Melvin to his face. He waited till he left WSOF lol.

  2. Plus why the hell does WSOF go the same nights as UFC and Bellator? Do they actually think they can compete with them? I think NBC wants to make WSOF a success, but sometimes they make questionable decisions.

  3. Who accepts or declines comments that are being moderated? I thought you are in charge of the site? After all you own it. Or is there a few others helping you run it? Just wondering, that’s all.

    1. Multiple people have the ability to approve and delete comments. Yes, I am the owner but there is someone else who has the ability to approve and/or delete comments.

  4. UFC banned Randy Couture from cornering his son in the UFC. They banned others too. I disagree with what Sam Caplan is saying about Bellator and Gavin Sterrit. And about him saying you can’t legally cut a fighter coming of a win. Bellator has done that several times and still do all the time. I’m surprised those fighters on winning streaks that were/ are cut why they haven’t sued them yet. I don’t think Sam saw this MMA Junkie article. Or maybe he has, but forgot about it. I just read it again.
