Middleweight Cheyenne Vazquez will be looking to remain undefeated tonight at Cage Titans FC 25 when he faces Ralph Johnson in the fight card coming from the Plymouth Memorial Hall in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Vazquez (3-0) made his professional mixed martial arts debut back in 2013 and his introduction to the sport came back when he was 20 years old.
“I started off in the Army and I went to college,” Vasquez explained to The MMA Report. “I ended up getting my commission in the Army and not really one of my buddies, but one of my classmates had done an amateur bout and I saw the pictures. It was kind of the first time that I heard about it. So when I got back home after I graduated — I was 20 years old and came back home. I found a gym nearby and I tried it out. Tried a jiu-jitsu class and kind of feel in loved with it. Started boxing. Trying all that out. I just got a taste of it and feel in love with it. I took my first amateur fight in five or six months.
In his pro debut, he scored a split decision victory and his last two fights have ended by TKO in the first round. Those two fights last a combined 4 minutes, 22 seconds and Vazquez’s mindset is to always be looking for a quick finish.
“I just come out and go hard. I am always going to look for the finish. I throw everything with bad intentions and I guess that is how I would describe my fighting style. I give a fan pleasing — I have heard that before to.”
When he steps into the cage tonight, he will be facing a fighter that has 22 professional fights in Johnson. While Johnson may not have a great record, Vazquez is not underestimating him and is treating this fight as the toughest battle of his young career.
“Record don’t mean s**t. I have to give it to Ralph. He is definitely one of the busiest fighters nearby. I am not taking him lightly at all. I have trained my ass off like I am fighting the best dude in the world. He is a tough dude. He can touch you and put you out. I am not taking him lightly by any stretch of means. I am taking him as the biggest threat I have ever faced and that is how I look at every fight.”
