The Bellator four-man, one-night light heavyweight tournament took place on Saturday night and Phil Davis walked away as the winner as he defeated Emanuel Newton and Francis Carmont to become the tournament champion.
In the opening round, Davis submitted Newton and ended up facing Carmont in the final when Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal was unable to continue in the tournament after defeating Linton Vassell. He would defeat Carmont by knockout and this is his second career win by TKO/KO.
“I don’t know what just happened,” said Davis. “I just want to thank God. I had the best training camp. I have the best coaches, teammates and people around me. You know what, I’d want to fight Liam McGeary. He’s young, fresh and he’s long.”
