The next CES MMA card will take place on October 30 and the fight card will see a title fight as Chip Moraza-Pollard and Gil de Freitas will meet for the vacant welterweight title.
The fight booking was announced by CES MMA on Thursday.
CES MMA 31 will come from the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island and tickets start at $40.
“We are excited to be showcasing two of the best welterweights around. The last title holder at this weight division, Dominique Steele, was called up to the UFC less than a month after winning the title,”CES MMA CEO Jimmy Burchfield Jr. said. “Both Chip and Gil come to bang, so don’t blink. On October 30, Twin River Casino will be rockin’ to a national audience, live on AXS TV Fights.”
Moraza-Pollard (10-8) is coming off a TKO win against Dan Lauzon at CES MMA 30 last month and he is 2-1 in his last three fights. Six of his ten wins have come by stoppage and five of those victories have come by TKO/KO.
“This is a terrific opportunity, absolutely, but the best way for me to approach this fight is to look at it like another night at the gym for training,” Moraza-Pollard said. “It’s just another night at the office. There’s another person in front of me and, when it boils down to it, it’s another fist fight in a cage.”
De Freitas (17-5) has won his last four fights and two of his last three wins have come in CES MMA. This will be his first fight since August of last year, which was a TKO victory against George Sheppard at CES MMA 25.
“I do not care who the opponent is, I try to impose my game and put pressure on from the first minute of the fight to show that I deserve that belt and that I belong among the best,” De Freitas said. “I am happy with the opportunity to fight for the belt at CES.”
More details on CES MMA 31 are expected to be announced shortly by the promotion.
