A bantamweight bout has been added to the CES MMA 31 card on October 30 in Rhode Island as Dinis Paiva will meet Kody Nordby on the main card on AXS TV.
The fight booking was announced by CES MMA officials on Tuesday.
CES MMA 31 will come from the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island and will feature Chip Moraza-Pollard and Gil de Freitas meeting for the vacant welterweight title.
Paiva (7-5) has won four fights in a row and all of those victories have come by stoppage in the first round. His most recent win came in June as he submitted Bruno Marques at CES MMA 29.
“I’m looking to put on the performance of my career every time I go out there and that’s exactly what I’m looking to do again,” Paiva said. “I’m hungrier now than I ever was before. I’ve got a lot more noise to make, starting October 30 at CES MMA XXXI.”
Nordby (4-3) is coming off a submission win against Jesse Gutierrez at CES MMA 29 and the victory snapped a three fight losing streak. Three of his four wins have come in the first round and all of his victories have come by rear-naked choke submission.
“Dinis’ style doesn’t match well with mine,” Nordby countered. “This fight is going to be fast-paced, aggressive … I like (the first-round finish).”
The current CES MMA 31 fight card is below.
Chip Moraza-Pollard (10-8) vs. Gil de Freitas (17-5)
Eric Spicely (7-0) vs. Aaron Johnson (13-9, 1NC)
