T.J. Dillashaw defends bantamweight title against former champion Dominick Cruz on January 17

A title fight is coming to FOX Sports 1 as bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw will defend the 135 pound title against former champion Dominick Cruz on January 17.

UFC President Dana White announced the fight booking on today’s edition of UFC Tonight on FOX Sports 1.

Dillashaw is coming off a successful title defense against Renan Barao and this will be his third title defense. Cruz will be looking to reclaim the UFC title, which was stripped from his last year due to multiple injuries keeping him on the sidelines.

The venue for the January 17 card on FOX Sports 1 has not been officially announced by the UFC at this time, but it has been speculated that the event will take place in Boston, Massachusetts.

  1. Everybody keeps saying Fight Night 59 went up against the AFC championship game. But the truth is the main card didn’t start until the game was over. The prelims went up against the championship game. And the Colts vs Pats game was a big time blowout anyway.

    Yesterday’s WSOF conference call only 3 ppl called in and John Morgan called in twice lol. The other 2 ppl that called in weren’t big members of the MMA media. Ali says they are the only ones who are signing fighters. And then he says them and the UFC. WSOF signs Bellator and UFC fighters mostly.

    Ali always says that they have their own fighters. No they don’t. They have a few of their own, rest are all Bellator and UFC fighters.

    Plus the free agents they’re signing aren’t top guys and if they are it’s bc Bellator passed on them. Bellator signs top prospects and other notable names, but then releases most of them.

    1. Bellator has had so many home grown fighters over the yrs. Like really good fighters. A lot of them aren’t with them anymore. 5 of their former champions are in the UFC. And three others are in ONE, KSW, and RFA. They Still have a ton of home grown fighters on their roster now. But sometimes I think what could’ve been if they held on to their champs and other fighters.
