Rafael Carvalho defends middleweight title in main event of Bellator 155 against Melvin Manhoef

Bellator will be heading to Boise, Idaho for Bellator 155 and the fight card will be headlined by a title fight as Rafael Carvalho will defend the middleweight title against Melvin Manhoef.

The fight booking was announced by Bellator on Friday evening and the promotion also announced that Pat Curran will meet Georgi Karakhanyan in the co-main event of the May 20 fight card.

Bellator 155 will come from the CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho and tickets will go on sale next Friday, March 4at Bellator.com, the CenturyLink Arena Box Office, CenturyLinkArenaBoise.com or by phone at 208-331-TIXS.

Carvalho (12-1) won the Bellator middleweight title in October when he defeated Brandon Halsey for the vacant title. He has won twelve in a row since losing his pro debut and his last three wins have come in Bellator. Manhoef (30-12-1, 2NC) is coming off a knockout win at Bellator 146 against Hisaki Kato and he is 2-1, 1NC in Bellator. He is already scheduled to return to kickboxing in April as he will headline the Bellator kickboxing event on April 16 in Italy.

  1. I rather see Carvalho vs Halsey rematch. And Pitbull vs Primus. Now who are Halsey and Primus gonna fight?

    Is Kongo vs Spartan one of the worst MMA decisions you’ve ever seen?

    My top 5 worst decisions in MMA: Tito vs Griffin III. Lashley vs Thompson 1. Bendo vs Thomson. Thomson vs Green. Sanchez vs Pearson. Hbu?

    1. Actually Kongo vs Spartan is in my top 5 worst MMA decisions 4 sure. That was a terrible decision. I haven’t seen Sanchez vs Pearson. So I take that outta my top 5. I just said it bc everybody thinks that is the worst decision in MMA history.

      1. Kongo/Spartan was a close fight. Comes down to the 2nd Round. Now the 30-27 scorecard for Kongo was awful. Not sure what that judge was watching in the third round. That fight would not go into my top five worse decisions of all time. Sanchez/Pearson was by far one of the worse decisions of all time.

        In terms of Primus, I hope to have an answer in the next 48 hours. What I do know at this point is that Bellator decided to go in a different direction with the Italy card in terms of Pitbull. When it comes to Halsey, I would go with Halsey/Kato.

      2. I just saw Sanchez vs Pearson. And I thought it was a really close fight. Kongo vs Spartan wasn’t close at all IMO. Spartan did more damage and had a couple of takedowns. I know you don’t agree, but everyone has different opinions on things.

  2. Since Georgi K returned I wanted Bellator to make him vs Pat Curran. What do you think about that fight? Also Pitbull vs Campos II and Carvalho vs Manhoef?

    Carvalho vs Halsey II makes more sense. And Pitbull vs Primus is a better fight than the rematch they are going with.

    1. Karakhanyan/Curran is a great fight booking. Personally, I would have rather seen Bellator go a different route and book Karakhanyan vs. Patricio Pitbull since there is already a rivalry between the two fighters. When it comes to picking a winner in that fight, I would make that pick the week of the fight as I need to watch some tape of both fighters before going on record with a pick.

      On Carvalho, I understand where Bellator is going here. No reason to book an immediate rematch between Carvalho and Halsey. That rematch can be booked down to road. A win over Manhoef can raise the profile of Carvalho, but I hope Bellator has a backup plan for this fight, especially with Manhoef scheduled for a kickboxing fight on the Italy card.

      On Sergei/Augusto, nothing confirmed on that fight booking at this time.

  3. There was rumors that Kharitonov vs Sakai was gonna happen in May. Do you know anything about that?

  4. Some of the fights I was looking forward to ain’t happening anymore. It sucks, but that’s just how it goes sometimes.

    Last nights fight was the last on Grove’s Bellator contract. Do you think Bellator re- signs him? Or do you think he signs with WSOF or KSW?

    He has a rematch upcoming vs Materla at KSW 35.

    1. With the current state of the Bellator middleweight division, I would think re-signing Grove would be a priority. Of course, it takes two sides to make a deal happen.

  5. TBH I don’t think Kongo vs Spartan is top 5 worst decision. My top 5 Worst decisions in MMA history are: Tito vs Griffin III. Lashley vs Thompson I. Bendo vs Thomson. Thomson vs Green. And Chandler vs Alvarez II. Hbu?
