Valor Fights 30 headliner Steven Haag talks about being a police officer and professional mixed martial artist

The main event of tomorrow night’s Valor Fights 30 event will be a lightweight bout as Steven Haag will look to improve to 2-0 in his career when he meets Nick Gehrts from The International in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Outside of mixed martial arts, Haag is a police officer in Tennessee and as he stated on The MMA Report Podcast, the sheriffs office is very supported of him being a professional mixed martial artist.

His first pro fight came in September of last year and he scored a submission in the opening round of his fight against Nick Collins at Valor Fights 26. His opponent tomorrow night recently told The MMA Report that he doesn’t understand why Haag is fighting at the professional level and went on to state that he believes that Haag doesn’t belong to be in the same cage with him.

On yesterday’s edition of The MMA Report Podcast, Haag addressed the comments made by Gehrts and simply maintained that he is not a trash talker and will essentially do his talking in the cage tomorrow night in Knoxville.

“I am not going to trash talk my opponent at all,” Haag told The MMA Report. “I am just going to get in there and do what I have learned. Hard work and all of that stuff is going to pay off.”
