Bellator lightweight Derek Campos is coming off the biggest win of his career as he stopped Melvin Guillard at Bellator 149 and he will be stepping back into the Bellator cage on April 16 in Italy when he has a rematch against Patricky “Pitbull” Freire in the main event of the fight card.
The first meeting between Campos and Pitbull took place at Bellator 117 in 2014 and Pitbull walked away with the victory as he stopped Campos in the second round. On Tuesday’s edition of “The MMA Report Podcast,” Campos talked about what he remembered from the first fight and why the rematch will go his way.
“I remembered out boxing him in the first round,” Campos said. “I remember it being a good back and fourth fight. I just remember mentally and physically, I don’t think I was all there so I think that had a big part in it. But he was the better man that night. That is what I sum it up to. Come April 16. That night I plan to be the better athlete, the better man and the better fighter.
