Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman was a guest on Friday night’s edition of “Inside MMA” on AXS TV to discuss the mixed martial arts bill being passed by the New York State Assembly earlier this week.
During his appearance on the weekly MMA news program, Weidman explained that he knows that the UFC wants to put him on the first New York card and also have other big named fighters on that event.
“I think [UFC CEO] Lorenzo [Fertitta] pretty much said I will be on the first card,” Weidman said. “I have been behind the scenes trying to get legal here for some time. I think the UFC definitely wants to put me on that card and they want to bring all of the biggest fights to that card. They want to make New York fans happy. Everyone has been missing out on a lot of great opportunities. They are going to try to make it up to New York for sure in that first show.”
