Cage Titans 28: Peter Barrett envisions being a UFC fighter in the next year

Lightweight Peter Barrett will look to to stay undefeated in his career on Saturday night in Plymouth, Massachusetts at Cage Titans FC 28 as he will face Jeff Anderson.

Barrett (5-0) has won all of his fights by stoppage and four of those wins have come in the opening round. During Tuesday’s edition of “The MMA Report Podcast,” Barrett stated that he visualizes another first round victory and he sees himself competing in the UFC by next year.

“I am in this game for one reason and that is to get to the next level,” Barrett said. “Turn some heads. Make a ton of money and be the best martial artist I can be. My goal is — this is my year. Someone asked me where I see myself next year. I said sitting on my couch and enjoying my $50,000 performance of the night bonus. Being an active fighter in the UFC and that is the truth. That is where I see myself and there is no other place I would rather be.”

“I say the UFC because it’s like the ultimate end road for fighters in my position,” he continued. “It’s not like I am a Benson Henderson that can go compete for contracts like these guys are doing now. They are leaving the UFC to go to other promotions. I am not in that position. Would I like to be in that position in the next five years? Hell yeah and I am going to work my ass off for it. But for right now, I just need to just keep finishing these guys and making sure I am making enough noise to get on their radar and get that phone call.
