Welterweight Jordan Dowdy will be returning to mixed martial arts competition on April 16 in St. Louis at Shamrock FC: No Mercy as he will meet Raymond Gray on the fight card coming from the Lumiere Casino.
Dowdy (2-1) opened his professional mixed martial arts career with back to back stoppage victories in the opening round and will enter this fight following a submission defeat against Adam Meredith at Bellator 145 in November. On Thursday’s edition of “The MMA Report Podcast,” Dowdy talked about the defeat in Bellator and how he is looking to start another win streak at Shamrock FC: No Mercy.
“I wanted to get back right there as soon as I possible could and it just did not happen that way,” Dowdy explained. “So I was ready for December 5. I was ready for January 30. I was ready for February 20. I was ready for March 12. I was actually on March 12 and got pulled from that show. I was pretty pissed off and I wanted to right that wrong. More so because there was not much to analyze.”
“Adam just hit me with a good back trip and laced a choke in on a transition,” he continued. “It was a very good move and he just checkmated me early and he won. There was nothing other than that. I lost that moment so I wanted to right that wrong and get a few wins quicker, but it was not there to happen. I haven’t been able to relax much since then. I have been training my ass off waiting for the next one. I was always ready to jump on a show if something came up and I let that be known. I am not reflecting to much on it. It’s there but I know I need to build another streak.”
