Emmanuel Sanchez: I am here to take over and that’s exactly what I am looking to do

Tonight’s Bellator 159 in Mulvane, Kansas will feature a key matchup in the featherweight division as Emmanuel Sanchez will look for his fourth win in a row when he meets Daniel Weichel on the fight card coming from the Kansas Star Arena.

Sanchez (13-2) has won five of his six fights in Bellator and his only defeat in Bellator came against former Bellator champion Pat Curran last year at Bellator 139. With a win over Weichel tonight, a title shot could be in his future and he recently told The MMA Report that he will be calling for a title shot following a victory over Weichel tonight at Bellator 159.

“I am calling for it right after this one,” Sanchez stated on The MMA Report Preview Show. “I know anyone in the featherweight division, I can submit and I can knockout. My fights have prove that and it’s all apart of growing. I am only 25-years-old. I have only been a professional for four years. These guys obviously — I was still an amateur when these guys were already getting in there and making their names.”

“I am just starting to make my name and work my way up,” he continued. “Now, it’s an honor for me that my name is in the hat. I am in here with the big names like Curran, [Patricio] Pitbull, Weichel, [Daniel] Straus so I know there is a mix. I am flattered and honored that I am in the mix, but I wasn’t in here to just be a name. I am here to take over and that’s exactly what I am looking to do.”
