Michael Page explains why change in opponent at Bellator 158 did not alter his preparations

One of the most exciting fighters currently signed by Bellator will return to competition tomorrow in London, England as Michael Page will look to remain undefeated when he meets Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos on the main card of Bellator 158.

Page (10-0) is coming off a submission win in April at Bellator 153 against Jeremie Holloway and was initially scheduled to meet Fernando Gonzalez. However, Gonzalez was pulled from the event due to visa issues and Santos accepted the fight against Page. With the change in opponent and different fighting styles that Gonzalez and Santos have, did that alter the training camp for Page?

“It doesn’t really because it’s not like a rock and paper scissors thing,” Page explained on The MMA Report Podcast. “I am constantly working on everything just in case anyway. Fernando Gonzalez would prefer to stay in the pocket and swinging his hands. I guarantee you if he needed to, he would be able to pull off a submission as well and I need to be prepared for that. I have seen fights that he had where he has caught guillotines and things like that before. It’s always something you have to be prepared for. It doesn’t change too much in what I have to do. I don’t work one style at a time. We work on our all around MMA game and this is why I love the sport so much because there is so much to think about.”
