The inaugural Valor Fights flyweight title will be on the line next Saturday night in the co-main event of Valor Fights 36 as Cody Gabelman meets CJ Hamilton on the fight card coming from the Gatlinburg Convention Center in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Gabelman (5-2) enters this fight with back to back victories and is coming off a submission win in April against Zakk Smith at Absolute Action 46. Four of his five professional wins have come by stoppage and during Wednesday’s edition of “The MMA Report Podcast,” Gabelman explained why he is excited to face Hamilton next Saturday night at Valor Fights 36.
“I think he [Hamilton] is a real flashy striker. I think I can do a lot there and finally maybe to get to show off some of my stand up skills that I haven’t really got to show off so far,” Gabelman said. “Most of the guys I have fought, there standup was kind of there but CJ is above and beyond the best standup fighter I have came to fight yet. That really makes me excited to finally standup with somebody with good technique and we can kind of go back and fourth.”
