Former CES MMA bantamweight title challenger Kody Nordby will be returning to competition next month as he will meet Branden Seyler at CES MMA 38.
The fight booking was announced by CES MMA on Monday.
CES MMA 38 will come from the Foxwoods Casino and Resort in Mashantucket, Connecticut on September 23 and tickets are currently on sale.
Nordby (6-4) is coming off a lost against current CES MMA bantamweight champion Andre Soukhamthath and the defeat snapped a three fight winning streak. All of his victories have come by submission and five of them have come in the opening round.
“I don’t even know who this kid is. A who’s who of guys in the MMA scene were messaging me asking who I was going to fight. Nobody had even heard of him,” said Nordby. “I accepted the first name I was given. He’s not impressed with me? We’ll see about that. I’m not impressed with him — I don’t think anyone is.”
Seyler (6-3-1) will be making his CES MMA debut in this fight and is currently on a three fight winning streak. His most recent win came in May as he defeated Dillard Pegg and two of his last three wins have come by submission.
“I’m going to dictate the pace and decide where this fight goes, and how I win,” said Seyler. “And after I put Kody away, if Andre Soukhamthath isn’t in the UFC yet, I’d love a shot at him.”
The current CES MMA 38 fight card is below.
Levan Makashvili (11-2-1) vs. Sean Soriano (9-4)
Calvin Kattar (15-2) vs. Chris Foster (9-4)
