A featherweight bout has been added to CES MMA 38 as Pete Rogers Jr. will meet Derek Shorey on the September 23 fight card coming from the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.
The fight booking was announced by CES MMA on Saturday.
Rogers Jr. (2-3) has dropped back to back fights and is coming off a submission lost at Bellator 144 against Marius Enache. Prior to his recent defeats, he has won back to back fights and both of those wins came by TKO/KO.
“Any time I fight locally, I’ve got a big following — and I’m thankful for each and every one of them — but nothing changes in how I approach my job,” said Rogers. “I don’t feel pressure. Everyone there, including me, is there to have a good time, and I just channel that positive energy into performing at my best.”
Shorey (3-7) enters this fight with five straight defeats and his last win came at New England Fights 19 against Tollison Lewis. His most recent fight came in May at New England Fights 23 and was submitted by Matt Denning.
“I can’t even describe how excited I am for this fight,” said Shorey. “I’ve taken a lot of short-notice fights, yeah, but I haven’t shown anything close to what I’m capable of. A win isn’t just a win for me. To have a win over a veteran like Pete Rogers Jr., will prove that I belong here, and that I can put my faith in getting better. It’ll be a huge night for me.”
