Andrew Whitney was scheduled to be facing Farkhad Sharipov for the vacant Titan FC bantamweight title next month at Titan FC 41, but Whitney has been pulled from the fight card per Titan FC CEO Jeff Aronson following an interview Whitney did with Bloody Elbow.
Aronson announced the decision in a video interview with James Lynch of MMA Oddsbreaker on Wednesday evening.
“Andrew Whitney will not be competing on this card,” Aronson stated. “Anything more than that, I have not made a final decision. I think sometimes we all speak in the moment and we get caught up in the moment. So I am going to take a couple of days. I am going to deal with this situation. Andrew is going to sit for a little while and I am going to make a decision on what is going to happen with him next.
Along with announcing that Whitney will not be competing at Titan FC 41, he also stated that Steve Carl is out of his scheduled fight against Jason Jackson and stepping up to replace Carl in the fight will be Cristiano Souza.
Aronson’s complete interview with Lynch is below and Aronson’s response on Whitney comes at the 9:41 mark of the video.
