Steve Montgomery explains why he does not plan to fight in Florida anymore

The main event of Saturday’s Fight Night 2 in Florence, South Carolina will be a middleweight bout as Steve Montgomery will fight in his home state against Roger Carroll on the fight card coming from the Florence Civic Center.

Montgomery (9-5) enters this fight card following a TKO defeat in May against Nicolai Salchov at House of Fame 5 and he explained during last week’s episode of “The MMA Report Podcast” why he does not plan to fight in Florida anymore.

“I watched it one time to see what I did wrong and that was it,” Montgomery stated about his fight against Salchov. “That is pretty much all you can do. When you get a sh**ty situation. We sent a couple of things to the [Florida Boxing] commission. Basically trying to get [referee] James Warring — basically trying to get a restraining order on him refereeing my fights. They did not respond. Until then, I am not going to fight in Florida anymore.”

“That is one solution. The second solution is I look at what I did wrong,” he continued. “Where I let a left hand come over my jab and I corrected that in training. Pretty much have not revisited the fight. I am just honestly getting anxious to get another fight. My motto is less training, more fights. I really wish we could fight maybe twice a month and train a lot less. I am just really ready to get back into the cage.”
