The main event of tonight’s Bellator 197 will be a key matchup in the lightweight division as Brandon Girtz is stepping up on short notice to take on former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler on the fight card coming from The Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri.

Girtz (15-7) has been in Bellator since 2012 and this will be his 13th fight in the promotion. He recently snapped a three fight losing streak with a knockout victory at Bellator 190 against Luka Jelcic and five of his seven wins in the promotion have come by stoppage.

During this week’s podcast, Girtz was a guest on the podcast to preview his matchup against Chandler and one of the things he spoke about was the advantages in taking a short notice fight.
