LFA 39 took place on Friday night inside the Dobson Arena in Vail, Colorado and the fight card was headlined by an interim middleweight title fight as Ian Heinisch claimed the interim 185 pound title with a knockout victory in the opening round against Gabriel Checco.
Heinisch (10-1) landed an overhand right hand that lead to the end of the fight and the victory marked his second straight victory since losing to Markus Perez for the vacant LFA middleweight title in September of last year. The victory on Friday night marked his third career win by TKO/KO and four of his last five wins have come by stoppage.
In the co-main event of the fight card that aired on AXS TV, Hayard Charles scored a decision victory against Christiano Frohlich and Charles has now won two of his last three fights. The defeat for Frohlich snaps a five fight winning streak and this is his first defeat since dropping a decision against Julio Cesar Araujo in 2014.
