No excuses for Stipe Miocic, says Daniel Cormier was the better man at UFC 226

The reign of UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic ended on Saturday night in Las Vegas as he was knocked out by Daniel Cormier in the opening round.

The defeat for Miocic end his six fight winning streak and this is his first defeat since losing a decision to former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos in 2014 at UFC on FOX 13.

Following his defeat on Saturday night, Miocic briefly spoke with the media in attendance at UFC 226 and stated there was no excuses for the loss.

“I lost, plain and simple,” Miocic said during the UFC 226 Post Fight Press Conference. “There are no excuses. He (Cormier) was the better man tonight.”
