Bellator President Scott Coker announced the opening round matchups in the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix on Monday and at the start of this week’s episode, Jason Floyd and Daniel Galvan breakdown the matchups.
They rank the matchups in terms of what interest them the most, who they consider the favorite heading into the tournament, who’s a sleeper to potentially win the tournament and the rules of the tournament.
In the second round of this week’s show, Jason and Daniel recap last week’s UFC on ESPN+ 13, Bellator 224 and PFL 4. They discuss their top takeaways from the event and what may be next for some of the fighters that scored victories.
Up next is Round 3, which is the interview portion of the show as Jason speaks with UFC on ESPN 4 fighters Walt Harris and Mario Bautista. Up first is Harris (41:02), who previews his fight against Aleksei Oleinik in the co-main event. Then Bautista (52:54) comes on to preview his fight against Jin Soo Son on the preliminary card.
In Round 4, Daniel rejoins Jason to preview Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 4. They discuss their top 3 fights, what’s are stake in the main event, the heavyweight matchups on the card and which matchups on the preliminary card interest them the most. And in the final round, they discuss what happened on Tuesday’s episode of Dana White’s Contender Series.
