After coming off wins in their last fights, the UFC has booked lightweights Joe Lauzon and Gray Maynard to meet at UFC 155.
The fight was made official today by the UFC and the bout has been in the works for the last week.
Both fighters verbally agreed to the fight last week and the fight is official since both of them have signed the bout agreements.
Lauzon (22-7) has won three of his last four fights and is coming off a fight and submission of the night win over Jamie Varner at UFC on FOX 4 earlier this month.
His only lost in his last four fights came against Anthony Pettis at UFC 144 and lost by knockout.
He is becoming known as “Mr. Fight Night Bonus Winner” as he has collected a fight night bonus in seven of his last eight fights. He is second in UFC history with 11 fight night bonus and only trails Anderson Silva by one.
Maynard (11-1-1, 1NC) suffered his first professional lost last year against Frankie Edgar at UFC 136 and recently defeated Clay Guida at UFC on FX 4 earlier this summer. He won the fight by split decision and Guida was criticized for how he fought the former title contender.
UFC 155 takes place on December 29th and the location of the fight card has not been announced. It’s expected for this event to be in Las Vegas at either the Mandalay Bay Events Center or MGM Grand.
The UFC recently announced that the card would be headlined by Junior dos Santos defending the UFC heavyweight title against Cain Velasquez, which will be a rematch of the 2011 fight.
