The bout was reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com as UFC officials confirmed the booking with him.

UFC 166 takes place on October 19th from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas and will be headlined by Cain Velasquez defending the UFC heavyweight title in his trilogy bout with former champion Junior dos Santos.

Rockhold (10-2) was the last Strikeforce middleweight champion and lost his UFC debut earlier this year when he was defeated by Vitor Belfort at UFC on FX 8. The defeat snapped a nine fight winning streak and was his first defeat since 2007.

Boetsch (16-6) has lost back to back fights after being on a four fight winning streak in the UFC middleweight division. His most recent defeat came at UFC 162 earlier this month when he lost a decision to Mark Munoz.
