The final online preliminary bout of UFC Fight Night 26 from Boston was a featherweight bout has Manny Gamburyan has his second straight fight as he defeated Cole Miller by unanimous decision.
In the opening round, the fight was on the feet for the first four minutes with Gamburyan looking to close the distance as Miller had a height and reach advantage. He was able to close the distance on several occasions and took the fight to the ground in the final minute.
While the fight was on the ground, Gamburyan attempted to pass but Miller was able to stop the pass attempts and worked his way back to his feet as the round came to a conclusion. As the bell was set to sound, Miller landed multiple elbows to the head and one of the elbows may had been illegal.
Gamburyan was slow to get back to his feet and the cage side doctor came in to look at him to make sure he could continue. The doctor would allow him to continue and the fight moved into the second round.
In the second round, Miller landed a knee that cause Gamburyan to look for a takedown. The fight would go to the ground and Miller looked for a submission. Gamburyan was able to scramble out of the submission but Miller would continue to throw elbows to the head of his opponent and opened up a cut on the top of his head. The fight would get back to the feet in the final 30 seconds of the round and the round would end in this position.
As the final round opened, Gamburyan landed a low kick and then connected with a right hand. They continued to exchange strikes with each other and Miller landed a knee to the face of Gamburyan. Gamburyan immediately took the fight to the ground and went into the guard of Miller.
Miller attempted to get back to his feet but Gamburyan would be able to keep the fight on the ground until the final bell sounded. The judges would decide the winner and all three judges scored the fight for Gamburyan (13-7) who has now won back to back fights. Miller (19-8) has lost three of his last four fights and is 1-3 since dropping down to the featherweight division.
