Uriah Faber won his third straight fight as he scored a decision victory over Iuri Alcantara on the main card of UFC Fight Night 26.
The opening round would be a high pace with Faber making a mistake early and Alcantara taking advantage on the ground. While on the ground, he rained down punches and looked for various submissions.
Faber would be able to survive the flurry of punches and submission attempts and get into a dominate position in the final 90 seconds of the round. Faber would land multiple short elbows from top position before the round would come to an end.
In the second round, Faber went for a head kick which missed and Alcantara took the fight to the ground. They would scramble on the ground and Faber ended up in top position. He would batter Alcantara with elbows until the round came to a conclusion and they moved into the final round.
The final round saw Faber get the fight to the ground and use his short elbows and punches to score. Alcantara struggled to mount much offense until the final minute of the fight. Faber made a mistake and Alcantara went after one of the arms of Faber. He would not be able to get the submission locked in and the fight went to the judges scorecards.
Faber (29-6) has won three straight fights and once again proved he is one of the top contenders in the UFC bantamweight division. Alcantara (28-5, 1NC) is now 1-1, 1NC since dropping down to the bantamweight division and this was his second career fight to take place outside of Brazil.
