Chael Sonnen wants to face Wanderlei Silva in his next fight in the UFC and wants the fight to take place in the co-main event of UFC 167 in Las Vegas.
Sonnen asked for the fight during a segment of Fox Sports Live on Fox Sports 1 on Wednesday night while UFC President Dana White was on the show.
After hearing what Sonnen had to say, White stated if Silva is healthy, he will make the fight take place as the co-main event of UFC 167.
“I think that Wanderlei Silva is out until the beginning of the year,” said White. “So I’m not sure if he’s healthy, but if he’s healthy I will definitely make that fight, and I’ll definitely make it the co-main event.”
The only question is whether Silva would be ready to take a fight against Sonnen on November 16th at UFC 167 which will be headlined by Georges St-Pierre defending the UFC welterweight title against Johny Hendricks.
Silva tweeted on Sunday that the UFC had not called him about facing Sonnen but “The Axe Murderer” should keep his phone close and expect a call from White or UFC match maker Joe Silva.
