UFC Fight Night 27 Result: Court McGee wins split decision against Robert Whittaker

In a battle of Ultimate Fighter winners, Court McGee was able to do score enough as he defeated Robert Whittaker by split decision at UFC Fight Night 27.Fight Night 30

McGee opened the fight by being the aggressor and pushing the pace. Whittaker countered the strikes being thrown by McGee and dropped him with a left hand.

He would be able to get right back to his feet before Whittaker could capitalize. McGee did attempt two takedowns before the round came to a conclusion but both attempts were not successful.

In the second round, McGee landed a combination in the opening minute that rocked Whittaker but did not drop him. McGee continued to pressure Whittaker and ended up getting a brief takedown. They would have a stand up battle for the rest of the round as Whittaker attempted to land several short elbows.

They continued to have their striking battle in the third round with McGee pushing the pace and had Whittaker on his heels for majority of the round. Even though Whittaker was on his heels, he was able to land counter strikes.

The fight would go to the judges scorecards with McGee (16-3) winning the fight on two of the scorecards. He has won back to back fights since moving down to the welterweight division with both wins coming by decision.
