Ultimate Fighter 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum has his first fight since winning the reality show on Wednesday night and he submitted Brian Melancon in the first round.
Melancon opened the fight being the aggressor with his strikes and Gastelum countered by taking the fight to the ground. Melancon was able to get back to his feet and get back to striking with his opponent.
Gastelum landed a combination against the cage that rocked Melancon and he jumped on his back and locked in a rear-naked choke. Melancon was unable to defend the attempt and he tapped out.
Gastelum (7-0) improves to 2-0 in the UFC and six of his seven career wins have come by stoppage with this being his second career win by rear-naked choke.
