A lightweight bout has been added to The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale in Las Vegas as Ultimate Fighter 5 alums meet for the third time as Nate Diaz faces Gray Maynard.
UFC officials announced the fight booking yesterday and the bout will be apart of the main card broadcast on Fox Sports 1.
Diaz (16-9) has lost back to back fights after winning three in a row in his return to the UFC lightweight division. His most recent defeat came at UFC on FOX 7 as he was defeated by Josh Thomson. A month after the defeat, he was suspended by the UFC for 90 days for violating the UFC code of conduct after he sent out a tweet using a homophobic slur.
Maynard (11-2-1, 1NC) has lost two of his last three fights after beginning with career with a record of 10-0-1, 1NC). His most recent bout took place at UFC 160 and he was defeated by TJ Grant in the first round by knockout in a title eliminator bout.
The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale will take place from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on November 39th and the feature the finals of the reality show. The UFC will be announcing more fights for this card in the coming weeks and what fight will headline the card.
