Alex Caceres returned from his suspension at UFC 165 and defeated Roland Delorme by split decision on the online preliminary card.
The action opened with the fighters exchanging strikes before Delorme landed a right hand that dropped Caceres. He immediately went to attack with strikes on the ground but Caceres was able to flip the position. He would not be able to maintain the position as Delorme was able to get on his back and began to look for a submission.
He would be unable to get the submission and Caceres was able to flip out of the bad position. The round would end with the fighters on their feet and Caceres landed several punches before the round came to an end.
In the second round, they would strike for the first 90 seconds before Caceres took the fight to the mat. Delorme would limit the damage and get back to his feet. Delorme would be able to score a takedown and they had a scramble on the mat before Caceres got back to his feet. They would excahnge strikes until the end of the round and the bout moved into the final round.
Caceres was able to come on strong in the final round as he landed his strikes and took the fight to the ground in the first three minutes of the round. Delorme was able to get back to his feet and got the fight to the ground after Caceres slipped when he was throwing a kick. The action would stay on the mat until the end of the round and the judges would decide the winner.
Two of the three judges scoring the fight gave it to Caceres (9-5, 1NC) and he is 3-0, 1NC in his last four fights.
