UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz is currently out of action and is recovering from his recent knee surgery.
He joined “Inside MMA” on AXS TV to talk about the interim title fight at UFC 149 and he feels that his style gives problems to anyone in the bantamweight division. “I present a lot of problems to anyone in the division because I fight differently than anyone in the division,” Cruz said.
Cruz believes that he will be able to return faster than the doctors are saying and Renan Barao said before UFC 149 that he would wait for Cruz to retain rather than defending the interim bantamweight title.
When talking about his injury, the current champion says that he is not going to lose a step due to the injury. “I’m not going to lose a step,” Cruz said. “By the time I get back in there to fight, I will have all the rest I need. I will have all the training I need before the camp and be ready for that fight be strong, fast and be strong at what I always do and that is win.”
When Cruz initially suffered the knee injury during the filming of “The Ultimate Fighter,” it was reported that he would be out six to nine months. Cruz is likely to return in the early part of 2013, so the UFC could offer Barao a fight before the champion returns.
