Bellator will be returning to the Maverik Center in Utah on March 28th for Bellator 114 and the event will be headlined by Alexander Shlemenko defending the middleweight title against Brennan Ward.
The event was announced by Bellator on Wednesday afternoon and the card will also feature Rad Martinez facing Edson Berton in a featherweight bout.
Tickets for will be on sale on Friday and will be available by visiting Ticketmaster.com, Bellator.com and the Maverik Center Box Office.
Shlemenko (49-7) won the vacant middleweight title last year and his most recent title defense came at Bellator 109 as he defeated Doug Marshall by knockout in the first round. It was his twelfth straight victory and it was his tenth in inside the Bellator cage, which is the most in Bellator middleweight history.
“I saw Brennan Ward in the last tournament, he was impressive,” Shlemenko said. “But he is a young fighter, while I have experience on my side. My experience will be my strongest weapon in this fight.”
Ward (9-1) won the season nine middleweight tournament in November and defeated Justin Torrey, Joe Pacheco, and Mikkel Parlo to secure this title shot. He has won five of his six fights in Bellator and all of his wins in Bellator have come by knockout or submission.
“Simply put, I’m looking forward to bringing the heat and taking the belt away, Cold War style,” Ward said.
Bellator 114: Shlemenko vs. Ward will broadcast live at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT on Spike TV and the preliminary card will be streamed live and free on Spike.com beginning at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT.
