UFC President Dana White announced last week that the organization was planning to return to Abu Dhabi in April for a Fight Night card and the event is now official for April 11th.
UFC officials announced the card on Tuesday and the event will be headlined by a heavyweight bout as Ultimate Fighter 10 winner Roy Nelson will meet former UFC interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
Nelson (19-9) has lost back to back fights after being on a three fight winning streak in 2012 and early 2013. Both of his recent defeats have come by unanimous decision against top ten heavyweights and he will be looking for his first win since defeating Cheick Kongo at UFC 159 last year.
Nogueira (34-8-1, 1NC) is 3-4 in his last seven fights and his last appearance in the UFC came in June of last year as he was submitted by Fabricio Werdum. His last two defeats have come by submission and he has never lost back to back fights in his career.
This event will mark the second of six Europe, Middle East and Africa Fight Night events to take place in 2014, with the first event being UFC Fight Night 37 in London on March 8th.
More details on this event will be announced in the coming weeks by the UFC, including more fight announcements.
